The first hints regarding the presence of the towers is dating from around 1100 in Treviso, where these buildings were used primarily for housing then over time most of these were built for strategic reasons.
Many towers were present near the walls, but one of the largest towers in Treviso was located at Port St. Augustine.

As a result of the war and the many large earthquakes, as in 1222 and 1551, these towers in Treviso went largely destroyed or abandoned.
