Square dei Signori is certainly the heart of the picturesque historical city of Treviso, where even before Roman times is the scene of major local historical events. In this charming Piazza there stands the Palazzo dei Trecento: This amazing structure was built around to 1185 with the purpose of having an enormous meeting hall for the most important representatives of the country. In fact, during its history, the Palace was the seat first of the consuls before the Court and Council where the building was named "Palace of the Region " then hosted the supreme civic sat (the Grand Council) which consists of three hundred members and gave the final name of the building known today, precisely as the "Palazzo dei Trecento". In the upper part of the Palace as recounted above, there is a huge hall where are walls decorated with the insignia of the old mayor and frescoes from various periods. Between the end of the 800 till or days, the palace has undergone a series of reconstruction and renovation but has retained its original architectural. The reconstruction works, ending with the '900 involved the Prefecture, the Civic Tower and the Palace which was crowned with battlements type Ghibellines. Then after bombing of the Second World War, were eliminated and blackbirds and Ghibellines were replaced with those of a Guelph who still are.
